FAQ

1.When should I take LAU entrance exams?
   You should start preparing for entrance exams as early as possible during your last year of Secondary School preparation. Exams are offered according to a yearly schedule, set by the Office of Testing Services at LAU. (Normally available on the LAU web site). Special sessions may be offered if need arises.

2. How do I prepare for LAU entrance exams? And where can I find few samples of the entrance exams?
   The LAU Entrance Exams are normally based, like all other types of exams,on the basic knowledge that students acquire throughout their high school preparations. The Office of Testing Services provides applicants with a Test Preparation Material Booklet. These booklets are available upon request from the office. The LAU Entrance Exam is composed of two separate tests.

  1. English Entrance Exam ( EEE ): An English proficiency test that determines the students' level of proficiency in the English Language.

  2. Placement Exam for Admissions to the Freshman and Sophomore levels.

     The Freshman Exam is composed of: Math, Social Studies, and two of the following subject matters: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The Sophomore Exams are as follows:

  1. General Science :Math Physics, and chemistry.
  2. Life Science: Math, and two science subjects.
  3. Literature and Humanities: Math, General Science, and Philosophy and Civilization.
  4. Sociology and Economy: Math, Sociology & Economics, Philosophy.

3. What is the minimum score required for acceptance?
   Students are expected to achieve a minimum score of 500 on the English Entrance Exam ( EEE ) in order to get accepted at LAU. Scores ranging between 400-499 allow students to join the Intensive English Language Program.

4. Does LAU offer any preparatory courses for its entrance exams?
   Yes, the Continuing Education program offers certain preparatory courses for students wishing to prepare for the test.

5. Are there any special exemptions from the test?
   Yes, students ranking in the top 10 percent of their third secondary class will be exempted from the Sophomore Entrance Exam but will be required to sit for the EEE . Exemption will only take place upon the verification of the school about the ranking of the student.

6. May I sit for LAU entrance exams more than once?
  Yes, students may sit for one exam more than once . However the following should be noted:

  1. Students taking the English Entrance Exam should have at least a month interval between each sitting.

  2. Students taking the Freshman and Sophomore Exams should have a three months interval between each sitting.
