Residence Hall - Beirut
The Lebanese American University (LAU) is a residential university in the American liberal arts tradition. It is among the few residential universities in the Middle East, offering a beautiful campus where a rich extracurricular and community life flourishes. Life in the LAU residence system has a high degree of reliability. Dorm life in LAU establishes strong and supportive communities, which exist in all of its living groups.
Students need to be part of their own community to experience the diversity of social activity that takes place on campus. LAU strives to create and maintain an atmosphere in its residence halls, which will help the student grow academically, emotionally, and socially. A major aspiration is to help students acquire life skills that will be needed outside the academic community.
In order to improve its services and provide a more comfortable facility to its resident students the LAU - Beirut dormitories have been moved off campus. The new facility is located at a 10 minute walking distance from LAU, in a highly secure area off the Commodore Street.
The housing services in Beirut, at present, are provided only for females. The facility is run by a residence hall supervisor, with the help of a staff assistant supervisor and student floor assistants. Students can request, upon availability, to have single or shared occupancy in one or two bedroom suites.
