Common Forms of Aid
1. Forms of Financial Aid:

Once need is determined, financial aid proportional to that need is granted in one or more of the forms listed below:

Work-Aid: All financial aid recipients are required to work a certain number of hours at LAU. Besides helping students cover their financial need, the Work-Study program allows them to acquire work skills and develop discipline, as well as promote a sense of personal responsibility and accomplishment.

2. Complementary Forms of Aid:

Loans: The university maintains a revolving loan fund as part of the total financial aid program. Upon request, loans may be extended to students in accordance with the loan procedure. Reimbursing the loan may be spread over twelve years, starting with a three-year interest-free grace period after the date of withdrawal or graduation from the university. Following this grace period, interest equivalent to 50% of the market credit interest rate will be charged.

3. Scholarships:

Honor Scholarships are awarded to financial aid recipients on a competitive basis. Upon the completion of 24 credits at LAU with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.20, students benefiting from financial aid may become eligible for an Honor Scholarship. Such a scholarship, amounting to a maximum of 50% of the tuition, is granted from a set budget to a number of students in each academic school according to their Cumulative GPA.

4. Grants:

LAU offers a limited number of different grants as listed below. Those grants could be awarded in addition to Work-Study and loans to cover a greater percentage of the tuition fees.

Special Grants: For the time being awarded to students majoring in Education.

In-Service Grants: Awarded to full-time school teachers working towards a Teaching Diploma on a part-time basis. The grant amounts to one-third of the tuition fees. This is the only form of aid whereby the beneficiary is not required to fulfill the work-aid requirement.

Conditional Grants: Awarded to students according to donors' conditions.
